Heavy snow in the High Street, Leighton Buzzard sometime at the end of the 19th century. The scene is at the bottom of the High Street next to Church Square, with the premises of the photographers, the Piggott brothers, seen on the left.

Another winter photograph from the Society's Piggott Collection. The house has not yet been identified but is thought to be local to Leighton Buzzard. The lady in the porch is not holding a mobile phone – merely looking pensive ! This is from the Piggott's morality tales for magic
lantern slide shows.

St Mary's Church at Old Linslade, showing the graveyard before it was extended. It is thought that the fields surrounding the old church hide the remains of the once prosperous medieval village.

The Grand Union Canal at Linslade iced over.
The buildings on the left of the canal would be Whichello's Wharf, and the large house
beyond The Elms.

The best place to be in Victorian England when the snow is on the ground outside: two unknown women relax by an old fashioned range. Another photo from the Piggott's morality tales.

Indoor entertainment shortened the
winter months: this is the 1960's
"Honky Tonks" a local skiffle group.
