About the Society

LBDAHS was formed in 2006 by a merger of the Leighton Buzzard & District Archaeological Society and the Leighton Linslade Local History Research Group.

Our Aims

The Society's aims are to promote an interest in the past and to carrying out research in order to record our recent history and prehistory and publish these results in books, newsletters and reports.

In order to do this we aim to build up a multi layered record of the district which can be added to over time, embellished by detailed study and accessed by people interested in any aspect of our past.

Our Activities

We hold talks to disseminate information to anyone who is interested, workshops to develop skills and proposals for future research, work parties to carry out excavations and non intrusive surveys, and documentary research or desk top evaluations.

We also aim to keep an eye on modern developments to ensure that local archaeological sites and places of interest are not threatened by 'development'.

Finally we aim to be a focal point so that anyone interested in our past can communicate with us.
